David is the Commercial Director for The Open University, responsible for Business to Business relationships, providing commercial insight to drive the growth and diversification of the University’s income streams, through identifying, establishing and growing sustainable commercial partnerships, joint ventures and customer relationships globally. The role also has responsibility for The Open University’s position in the Apprenticeship market within the Higher Education Sector.
With over 25 years of experience in apprenticeships and technical education, beginning with David’s own engineering apprenticeship, his career progressed to the design and implementation of the first ever apprenticeship programme for Marks and Spencer (M&S), and following this responsibility for designing and implementing the award-winning Telecoms Engineering apprenticeship in his role as National Apprenticeship Manager at Orange Telecommunications.
As the Director of Education and Talent at Global Knowledge (leaders in IT, best practice and business skills training) where he began in 2014, David co-founded the PDS apprenticeship business in 2005. Under David’s stewardship both PDS and Global Knowledge partnered with the OU to deliver apprenticeship programmes to several blue-chip companies. Ultimately David’s employment experience to date has led to being responsible for the development and implementation of the apprenticeships strategy at the UK’s largest university, The Open University.
David also holds a master’s degree in Human Resource Management from the University of Salford.

Ben is the co-founder of Arch Apprentices. Ben joined the Blenheim Chalcot Group to set up Arch Apprentices at the start of 2012.
Ben has over fifteen years’ experience building organisations and initiatives that address social and economic challenges. He began his career helping Government organisations to understand the effectiveness of regeneration and labour market programmes. Ben then co-founded and ran RSe Consulting, a specialist firm helping councils to improve how they work for the benefit of their residents.
RSe worked with over 1/3rd of all English local authorities on improvement and transformation as well as key central Government departments before it was acquired by Tribal Group in 2008. In 2001 Ben set up SAFE, the country’s leading financial inclusion initiative based at Toynbee Hall, where is now the Non-Executive Chairman. He first got involved with Toynbee Hall through 7 years’ volunteering as an adult leader on camps for teenagers from London’s East End.

Matthew Gibbons is an experience sales manager, specialising in helping companies transform their outdated paper-based processes using digital solutions. Matthew joined DocuSign as an account manager, before being promoted to lead the Account Management team and now runs the UK Mid-Market sales team. Prior to DocuSign, Matthew worked in other technology sales roles with Trinity Mirror Digital Recruitment and Quest Software.
Ritu is the leader of Glint’s business development and strategic growth in EMEA. She joined Glint from IBM Kenexa after fifteen years in senior leadership positions. At IBM, she worked with some of the world’s most recognizable organizations to drive rapid revenue growth across the EMEA region. Throughout her career, she has been widely recognized for having peerless CXO relationship skills and an ability to source, partner, win and flawlessly execute complex technology solutions mandates from the largest global organizations. She’s personally led many key projects across a wide range of sectors from Financial Services to Pharma, Industrials and Retail, linking results to overall strategic business goals to drive performance. Ritu holds an MBA from the Etudes Supérieures Appliquées Aux Affaires in Paris, an MSc in Marketing from Aston University, and a BA from St. Xaviers College at Kolkata University. She’s lived and worked in Paris, Munich, Vienna and originally hails from Kolkata, India.

Paul joined the Peak Indicators’ team in his role as Data Scientist in 2018. He helps us to develop data products and services, produce educational resources and grow our internal data science capabilities. As an academic who’s worked for the University of Sheffield for nearly two decades, Paul continues to operate part-time as Professor of Search and Analytics at the university’s Information School. In addition to contributing to research and teaching activities, Paul’s time at the department has seen him occupy the role of Head of the Information Retrieval Group, Director of Research and MSc Data Science programme co-ordinator. As part of his ongoing responsibilities, Paul continues to conduct research in areas including: information retrieval, data analytics and natural language processing/text analytics. In addition to his time with the University of Sheffield, his former experience also saw him work in R&D for British Telecommunications PLC. René started his career at Procter & Gamble where he worked in diverse assignments across the world. He recently completed a 3-year assignment as the Global Human Resources Director for Oxfam International, and has now transitioned his responsibilities to his successor based in Nairobi. He holds a Master degree in Commercial and Industrial Sciences from the University of Geneva. He has lived and worked in Belgium, Singapore, Switzerland, the UK and the USA. He brings with him a broad HR generalist background, acquired through a mix of HR business partner and technical mastery roles, and a strong strategic approach rooted in operational experience, successfully used in the for- and non-profit sectors. René believes in working with those who have different views to develop win-win solutions. Through his personal experiences, he has become convinced that diversity & inclusion is a powerful organizational strategy which, if better understood and utilized by senior management, could boost any entity’s results with the very staff they have today.
Josie has worked in the rail industry for the last 20 years, and was in food and engineering manufacturing before that. Her career has all been in HR, and has focussed on supporting businesses in changing and adapting to the ever evolving world around them, and preparing for the changes to come. Leadership and how we develop ourselves and others in the skills and tools to deliver effective leadership are core to her work, as is engaging and developing the people who actually deliver the business every day. Prior to this role, JC joined Nestlé in 2011 as Global HR Head to support the creation of a new business venture, Nestlé Health Science.
JC has built his career at driving change, inspiration and HR leadership in various industries: food and beverage, pharmaceuticals at Bayer Schering Pharma, consumer health at Roche and automotive at PSA Peugeot Citroen.
